AD Digital and Primestream's solution doubled the broadcaster's content output

ABOUT NDTV

Headquartered in Florianópolis, in the state of Santa Catarina, NDTV is an Open TV network that operates seven affiliated stations under the RecordTV brand. NDTV has a long and successful partnership with AD Digital and Primestream, having leveraged solutions from both companies for over 10 years. Today, the Primestream workflow server drives virtually all ND TV media workflows and ensures highly efficient broadcast operation, from ingest to production and playout.

Primestream, a leading provider of asset management and automation software solutions for media production, announced that Brazilian broadcaster NDTV has migrated, with support from Integradora de Soluções AD Digital, all of its media asset management (MAM) operations. to the award-winning Xchange™ platform. With remote content workflows powered by Xchange in the cloud, NDTV was able to double its content production while enabling production teams to collaborate and contribute from any location.

THE CHALLENGE

“When it came time to upgrade our MAM capabilities, we looked for a solution that could integrate our seven local stations and allow them to easily exchange content via internet links. We also wanted to make it easier for broadcasters to search, identify and retrieve specific assets”, commented Rafael Mafra, director of engineering and technology at NDTV. “Of all the MAM vendors we evaluated, Xchange stood out in terms of functionality for the price. And of course, after a decade, we know we can count on excellent support from AD Digital and Primestream.”

THE SOLUTION

With Xchange, NDTV has implemented a fully remote production operation that allows teams working in many different locations to view, catalogue, upload and download media. More than 20 NDTV reporters are empowered to capture their interviews through video conferencing tools, DSLR cameras and smartphone cameras.

Reporters check their content on Xchange, where producers at NDTV headquarters can access footage and then validate it for post-production and finalization. From there, editors working from their home offices can finish content using Xchange's built-in integrations with Adobe Premiere Pro and Creative Suite.

RESULTS

The onset of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 presented an ideal opportunity for NDTV to test the remote collaboration workflows enabled by Xchange, especially as the network had to double production to accommodate its increased news coverage. Almost instantly, content exchanges between the seven TV stations expanded to include more than 30 remote team members, with reporters producing content in the field, producers editing and validating information in the home office, and teams at the stations finalizing and placing that content. stories in the air.

Mafra added: “Xchange has been a huge support as we navigate these unprecedented times. Xchange's control and agility allowed us to easily scale to meet our increased production requirements. Our remote teams are more productive and creative than ever – with Xchange's robust metadata capabilities, it's much easier to guide and monitor content at every stage of editing and production. Plus, we know we’re getting the best in the industry based on our many years of excellent experience with Primestream products.”

“As news about COVID-19 continued to emerge, NDTV played an important role in keeping its viewers informed and conveying important information. We are proud that our Xchange MAM platform played an important role in enabling production teams to increase content streams dramatically and almost overnight,” said Claudio Lisman, President and CEO of Primestream. “While the migration to a cloud MAM system happened quickly to accommodate an immediate need during the health crisis, NDTV is seeing the solution as the long-term key to collaboration workflows. The benefits of Xchange are compelling: the ability to monetize any asset in the system, reduce operational costs, and provide users with complete access.”
